The role

You will work closely with the CEO and be responsible for leading and inspiring a team responsible for developing and executing commercial and business development strategies to deliver impact to our partners and deliver on our sales targets and organisational strategy.

You will collaborate closely with the leadership team and other departments on target setting, shaping marketing strategies, developing robust sales processes, and advising partners on how to meet their goals so that our organisation can continue to succeed.

The responsibilities
  • Lead and scale the Commercial team, consisting of the Sales, Consulting, Growth and Client Success teams aimed at accelerating growth

  • Develop appropriate KPIs to measure organisational success and drive rewards and recognition for colleagues responsible for those metrics

  • Inspire and drive the continuous professional development of colleagues in the Consultancy and Business Development teams to achieve their personal and our organisational priorities

  • Generate and qualify new leads using appropriate approaches for enterprise and government clients and partners in collaboration with the Marketing team

  • Build, motivate, and drive a high performing Business Development team responsible for enterprise and government sales including outreach, pitching, getting alignment, negotiation, closing deals and monitoring delivery

  • Ensure a robust after sales process to deliver strong partner engagement and success

  • Lead the Consulting team to (1) be trusted advisors and delivery partners for organisations that require custom solutions, (2) analyse market trends and drive thought leadership within the market, and (3) collaborate with other teams to develop and continuously improve our offerings

  • Drive organisational health and performance within the Commercial team and the organisation as a whole

  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders

  • Monitor market trends, provide regular competitor analysis, and create effective business plans based on commercial opportunities

  • Analyse and report on the performance of the Commercial team

  • Shape the development of our organisational strategy, especially as it relates to the Commercial team

  • Demonstrates expertise in advising and developing trust-based relationships with C-suite level clients and stakeholders

  • Is an inspiring leader who communicates compellingly and builds high-performing teams

  • Is entrepreneurial and has sharp business acumen 

  • Possesses strong business management skills, e.g., strategy development, budgeting, reporting

  • Has robust analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ideally has experience in the following sectors: professional services (especially corporate learning or consulting) or technology/digital

  • Has leadership experience in consultative B2B sales and/or business development.

  • Demonstrates expertise in advising and developing trust-based relationships with C-suite level clients and stakeholders

  • Is an inspiring leader who communicates compellingly and builds high-performing teams

  • Is entrepreneurial and has sharp business acumen
